RACEY BALLARD is thrilled to be a part of the wonderful team at Plano Senior High School. This will be Mr. Ballard’s tenth year teaching. In 2011, he earned his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Theatre Education from the University of Central Oklahoma. During his undergraduate studies, he received the Award of Excellence in Teaching and Leadership, both in 2010 and 2011. For three years, Mr. Ballard taught in Oklahoma City before moving to the great state of Texas in 2014. A few of the stand-out productions he directed and designed include: West Side Story, The Music Man, Shrek, Lorca in a Green Dress, Eurydice, Working the Musical, Women in Congress, among others. Under his direction, his students in both Oklahoma and Texas have won various acting and technical theatre awards. Racey is a member of the Texas Educational Theatre Association and is very passionate about theatre education. He cherishes the opportunity to foster growth in his students and is looking forward to sharing new artistic experiences with this amazing and supportive community.
Technical Theatre Director
ELLEN WATTS is excited to be joining the Plano Senior High Theatre Family this year as the Technical Theatre Director. Ellen is now in her 10th year as a Theatre educator. Ellen was previously the Theatre Director and Fine Arts Department Head at Vines High School for 7 years. She was first introduced to Theatre at Renner Middle School and grew her passion for Theatre at Shepton High School and then Plano West Senior High School where she was a member of the Technical Theatre Productions class. She attended Baylor University where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Design with an emphasis in Costume Design and Performing Arts Management. Under her direction, the Vines Theatre Department produced numerous Theatre Productions including: The Addams Family, Robin Hood, Medea, The Drowsy Chaperone, Once Upon a Mattress and The Secret of Madame Defarge. Ellen was the 2017 Vines High School Teacher of the Year. Ellen resides in Dallas, Texas with her husband and her cat Arlo.

Danny Lozano - Director of Choreography
DANNY LOZANO is proud of his role as choreographer for the PSHS Musicals which include Thoroughly Modern Millie, Chicago, DSM’s HSMTA “Best Musical” Curtains, The Who’s Tommy, Hello, Dolly!, Legally Blonde, Nice Work If You Can Get It, and the 2017-18 winner of DSM’s HSMTA “Best Musical” Jekyll & Hyde. Since the inception, PSHS has received a “Best Choreography” nomination from Dallas Summer Musical High School Awards under his direction. He has worked with the PSHS musical program for over 15 years, finally joining the department in 2013. He was actively involved in developing the Musical Theatre class first offered at Plano! Mr. Lozano studied ballet, musical theatre, and opera, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from WT A&M in 1993. Mr. Lozano has performed nationally and internationally as a singer/dancer and principal production singer and headliner for for Carnival, Cunard, Royal Viking, Princess, and Royal Olympic Cruise Lines, and has performed with Casa Mañana, The Dallas Metropolitan Ballet, Opryland-Gaylord Productions, and Vertigo Productions in Germany, and various international production companies. In 2003, he began teaching dance at Frisco High School; became the Associate Director and eventually the Stars Dance Team Director. Mr. Lozano is a member of the Association of Texas Professional Educators, Texas Educational Theatre Association and has been a member of the Texas Dance Educators Association and past board member of the Frisco Ballet. Mr. Lozano’s goal is to promote the craft of performance as an option for his students, whether their pursuit is professional, or simply to become more appreciative supporters of the arts.
Brian Coatney - Orchestra Director, Conductor
BRIAN COATNEY is the Director of Orchestral Studies at Plano Senior High School. Born in Arlington, Texas, Brian began studying the cello privately at the age of five. He continued his music studies through high school, participating in Orchestra, as well as playing percussion in numerous ensembles. After high school graduation, Coatney pursued his music career at Northwestern State University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. In 2003, Brian earned a Masters in Orchestral Conducting at James Madison University where he had the opportunity to study with Dr. Robert McCashin. He then joined the Klein High School fine arts program in 2003 as the Assistant Orchestra Director, as well as conducted the Houston Youth Symphony Sinfonietta Orchestra. Mr. Coatney became a member of the Plano Senior High School fine arts team in 2007 as the Director of Orchestral Studies. The Plano Senior High School Orchestra has a long tradition of success earning multiple Sweepstakes awards at UIL, Best in Class awards at national music competitions, and has performed three times at the prestigious Mid-West International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago. The PSHS Chamber Orchestra has been chosen as the Honor String Orchestra of Texas four times, and the PSHS Symphony Orchestra has been chosen as the Honor Full Orchestra three times; 2006, 2008, and most recently in 2011. Mr. Coatney is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Orchestra Director’s Association, and the professional music fraternity Phi Mu Alpha.
